This week at Lake was a busy one! Students were paired up as mentors and mentees, and interviewed each other about likes, dislikes, and goals. We talked a lot about how everyone has strengths and areas for growth, using their teacher and her twin sister as examples. (Both are middle-school teachers, one is better at math and Spanish, and the other is a faster reader and a better test-taker!)
We also worked on putting together time capsules to be opened at the end of the year. Students enjoyed writing letters to themselves, and decorating their envelopes with photos and symbols.
On September 22, we will have a parent meeting to talk more about the YESS program at Lake International. All parents have been invited with a personal phone call and a letter. We are hoping for a huge turnout so that we can continue to grow YESS at Lake International!
